Namib240W Portable Solar Panel | Shingled Cell | Teflon ETFE
The Namib240W is Flexopower's mid-range portable solar panel — 240W of proven field performance in a lightweight 6.9kg four-fold design. Built with shingled solar cell technology and Teflon ETFE encapsulation, it delivers reliable power for 3 or more days off-grid in real African conditions. Connects directly to any Flexopower power station via a FlexoLink extension cable — no separate charge controller required.
Or to your your solar charge controller/deep cycle battery.
Panel in the sun. Power station in the shade.
Why Shingled Solar Cell Technology
Shingled solar cells are laser-cut and overlapped — eliminating the spaces between cells and maximising the active area of the panel. Cells are connected in parallel groups rather than in series, making the panel significantly more resilient to partial shading. A shadow on one section does not kill the output of the entire panel.

Higher power density in a smaller footprint means more output in less packing space. Field tested in conditions that would kill lesser panels — including encounters with wildlife that had no respect for solar equipment.
Why Teflon ETFE Encapsulation

Flexopower exclusively uses Neoflon from Daikin, Japan — the world's leading Teflon encapsulation supplier. ETFE encapsulation outperforms standard PET or EVA encapsulation in UV resistance and long-term durability. It is the best encapsulation available for portable solar panels.
Key Features
- Shingled solar cell technology — higher power density, superior partial shade resilience
- Teflon ETFE encapsulation — Neoflon by Daikin, Japan — the best available for portable panels
- Grey fabric — absorbs less heat than black fabric, reducing temperature-related output losses during long hours in the sun
- Collapsible supporting legs — angle the panel at 45° for improved harvest in winter and low sun conditions
- Reinforced fabric loops — secure the panel to a vehicle, roof rack or ground using pegs or rope. Essential for wind and storm conditions in the field.
- Rubberised carry handle — built-in for easy transport between locations
- Unique serial number — every panel is individually traceable through manufacturing and QC
- Free delivery within South Africa
Best For
- Overlanding and extended expeditions — 3 or more days off-grid
- Caravans and trailers
- Weekend camping with higher power demand
- Remote work sites and field operations
How to Use It
Park in the shade. Put the panel in the sun. Connect the Namib240W directly to your Flexopower power station via a FlexoLink extension cable — no separate charge controller required.
Alternatively connect directly to a solar charge controller before the deep cycle battery.

FAQ
Does it need a separate charge controller? No. The integrated MPPT in any Flexopower power station handles charge management automatically. Connect the panel directly via a FlexoLink cable.
Why is the fabric grey and not black? Grey fabric absorbs less heat from the sun than black fabric, reducing temperature-related output losses and improving sustained real-world performance during long hours in the sun.
What is shingled solar cell technology? Shingled cells are laser-cut and overlapped to eliminate spacing between cells, maximising the active area of the panel. Connected in parallel groups, the panel is significantly more resilient to partial shading than conventional series-wired panels.
What encapsulation does Flexopower use? Teflon ETFE — specifically Neoflon from Daikin, Japan. The best available encapsulation for portable solar panels in terms of UV resistance, heat tolerance and long-term durability.
Is each panel traceable? Yes. Every Namib240W has a unique serial number that tracks it through the entire manufacturing and quality control process.
What warranty does it carry? 2 years on manufacturing.
How many days off-grid will it support? The Namib240W is rated for 3 or more days in camp depending on your power consumption.
Proven technology. Field tested. Panel in the sun. The Namib240W — built for serious time off grid.
One if our clients bought a 240W 4 years ago, het brought it to us to test, we only got 6 A out of it, I contacted Flexopower, send it in to them. A few days later they contacted me saying they've tested it and will replace it free of charge, now that's good service.
Big shout out to Flexopower Energies for addressing a small performance issue we picked up on our Namib 240 Foldable Solar Panel. Your communications with me the customer was top class, updating me on progress, and promptly returning the new panel via courier as a warranty claim. Great service goes a long way to retaining existing customers and attracting new ones and you have it! Well done and thank you.
Long-Term Review: Disappointing Durability for the Price
After searching for a lightweight, foldable, and portable solar panel for camping, I decided to treat myself and invest in the Flexopower Namib 240W. It was a significant purchase, and I had high hopes given the premium price tag.
Over the past few years, I’ve used the panel on approximately 18 camping trips, each spanning a few days. Unfortunately, the performance has deteriorated significantly. The panels now struggle to produce more than 80 watts, even under optimal midday sun. Additionally, a protective coating is beginning to peel off, creating a mess and further diminishing usability.
Given the cost, I expected a far more durable and reliable product. Regrettably, the quality has not lived up to expectations, and I cannot recommend this panel based on my experience.
Note: cleaning has always just been with a damp microfibre cloth.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your Namib 240W panel has declined in performance after several years of use. We always aim for our products to serve our customers reliably for as long as possible, especially for camping and off-grid applications where dependable power is essential.
That said, we do want to clarify an important point for anyone reading your review:
the Namib 240W you purchased three years ago is not the same panel we manufacture today. The newer-generation Namib panels use a completely upgraded cell technology, improved ETFE/Teflon surface, reinforced internal wiring, and updated quality controls. These improvements directly address the very issues you experienced and make the current model significantly more durable and more efficient.
Products inevitably evolve over time, and we want to ensure that potential buyers understand that your feedback relates to a much older version which is no longer in production.
We’d still like the opportunity to assist you directly. If you’d be open to it, please contact our support team with your serial number so we can take a closer look at the unit and see what we can do to help — even outside the standard warranty window.
Thank you again for your feedback and for being an early Flexopower customer. We truly appreciate it.
Great panel, delivers the power as advertised and works well with a compact design.
Great service from the team. Have multiple products from Flexo and very happy, gear is reliable, quality is great.
